【Travel In Perlis】1st Day Of The Beautiful 2D1N Trip Of Perlis | Cendol Pulut + Laksa Beng + Tasik Melati + Kuala Perlis + Hai Thien Restaurant

2D1N Perlis Trip
Beautiful trip of Perlis

During the university days, I have met with this two great friends. Time flies. Now it has been four years since we knew each other and they are going to graduate soon. While we still have the little time together, we have plan a trip to Perlis as a good farewell to each other.

On the early morning of 26th June, me and my roommate, Hua Wei and the two soon to be graduated great friends, Pei Yin and Jer Xian have departed to Perlis. We have our breakfast in Penang Island and headed to the Penang bridge afterwards. We reach Penang bridge at 9.30 AM which is a bit delay from our planned schedule. Four of us were the first timer to travel to Perlis, so along the way we were depending on the map and our bad instinct.

Unfortunately, the weather was super hazy on that day. Throughout the two days trip, there wasn't any beautiful blue sky accompany us.

We were lost soon after we went out from Penang bridge. At first we planned to used the North-South Expressway, but don't-know-how we ended up reaching the small road. Though, it was not at all a bad thing to get lost. Because of our recklessness, we have met with this magnificent mosque. And so, this Masjid Abdullah Fahim at Bertam has became our first stop. By the way, the mosque has their own blog!

At last, we were depending on the GPS to lead us to the North-South Expressway. Soon, the paddy field started to appear at both side along the road, which means that we were already entered Kedah. Along the way, there is a rail road at our left side and we were very lucky as there was a train with the colourful containers pass by us. The view that the colourful train with the green paddy field was truly breath taking and I just cant take my eyes off it. Too bad that my camera was put in my bag so I have missed the chance to snap this beautiful view.

Tada! With about a 3 hours of driving and we have finally reached the Perlis's boundary!

2D1N Perlis Trip

We stopped our car at the roadside and took a photo with "Perlis".
From the left is Pei Yin, Hua Wei and Jer Xian.

This is Sanctuary Garden, the place where we spent our night in Perlis. Initially, we have booked Brilliant Inn as our place to stay. However, when we reached Perlis, we were having problems in reaching Brilliant Inn, the GPS cant lead us to the exact location. So, we have called the Brilliant Inn for guidance. After three calls, we have finally found it. Yet, we saw this Sanctuary Garden which is just opposite Brilliant Inn so we have decided to take a look at it first. Once we went in, we were deeply attracted by the interior design of Sanctuary Garden and we decide to give up on Brilliant Inn and stayed here. Oops, really sorry about that, Brilliant Inn.

We take a little rest at Sanctuary Garden. After an hour of resting, we departed to Kangar to have our lunch. The time now is 3 PM.

2D1N Perlis Trip

Before we went to have our lunch, let me complain about this car first. This Wira was rented with a rate of RM90 per day. What I want to say is, this car was really really sucks! Firstly, there was a crack on the car key. It will break easily if not using with care. Secondly, the door at the driver seat is really hard to open, it would be bad if an emergency happen. Thirdly, this Wira is an automatic car, the bad thing is that it needs a very long time for it to change the gear, very petrol consuming. Fourthly, the car has to heat up for two to three minutes every morning before it can drive on the road. Fifthly, there was a huge sound every time the car turned and it really horrify the passengers! In conclusion, we will never rent the for from this person again!

We drove around Kangar to look for food. Unfortunately, many of the shops have closed. After a while, we saw a coffee shop in an alley with it's door still open, so we went into the coffee shop to try our luck.

The main course has finished and was left with bread only. Each of us has ordered a "Pong Piah", a roasted bread and a drink. This set of meal has costed us altogether RM15.70, which is more or less the same price in Penang. Our next stop is to try out the Cendol Pulut. We asked the coffee shop's boss for the location and went to find it by ourselves.

2D1N Perlis Trip

Soon, we have found this Cendol Pulut stall. Unfortunately, when we reached there, the Cendol Pulut was sold out and only left with the normal cendol. Well, we planned for a second visit the next day but too bad the time wasn't allowing us to do so. I found out this Cendol Pulut at "Eatlicious" food blog. For details, do pay Jazz's blog a visit.

2D1N Perlis Trip

The cendol hawker introduced us with this Laksa Beng which is not far from his stall. It is just beside the Nine Emperor Gods temple and opposite the bus terminal.

2D1N Perlis Trip

Me and Hua Wei each ordered a plate of Lemak Laksa. One plate of Lemak Laksa is RM3. Taste is a very subjective matter. Me and Hua Wei has different opinion on the taste of this Laksa. I personally think that the laksa is a bit taste too fishy but Hua Wei just like the way it tastes. Well, different people different taste.

After settle with our lunch, we were heading to the petrol station to pump petrol. This trip has altogether costs us  a RM120 petrol.
I have known Pei Yin for many years but not until that day I found out that she actually enjoyed washing the car windows! However, she was really not a professional one. She has made my seat window became dirtier.

2D1N Perlis Trip

Next stop, Tasik Melati. Want to know what was Pei Yin doing at that time? She was actually saying that "Here got sunlight", and then she lifted up her hand and I snapped her..haha..

2D1N Perlis Trip

Previously, I have searched on the internet for the information regarding Tasik Melati. All I found was the beautiful pictures of the wooden bridge. Thus, we have a high expectation towards this Tasik Melati. When we arrived there, all we can feel was disappointed. The view was not as beautiful as shown in the pictures and the place was not so clean as well. It feels like nobody was taking care of it. Besides, there was someone singing out loudly with the aid of the speakers which has severely polluted the calm environment.

2D1N Perlis Trip

Despite disappointed, we must took a selfie too!

2D1N Perlis Trip

Just when we were about to leave Tasik Melati, we noticed that there were another lake at the other side. Wow, this lake was really totally different from that of Tasik Melati. There was a small garden at there with some big stones in the garden. Most importantly, this side was way more cleaner than Tasik Melati!

2D1N Perlis Trip

Really love the reflection of this bridge. Too bad we cant spent too much time at here.

2D1N Perlis Trip

I know, you knew how I feel without me spitting a single word.

2D1N Perlis Trip

The bridges here were all Chinese style and all were made of cement.

2D1N Perlis Trip

We spent for about half an hour at Tasik Melati and the time has come to 6 PM. It is time for us to depart to our next location, Kuala Perlis. We saw on the web that Kuala Perlis is a nice place to see sunset so we don't want to miss it.

2D1N Perlis Trip

We reached Kuala Perlis around 7 PM and the sun was not set yet.

2D1N Perlis Trip

This is the long bridge at Kuala Perlis, I am not sure where it leads to. There was a hotel's name written at the entrance of this bridge, so my guess is that this is a place own by that particular hotel.

2D1N Perlis Trip

The sea was at low tide when we reached there. I really like the pattern that came out on the mud. It was so beautiful. At first I planned to stay at this place until the sunset ends as I want to take the photo of the sun touching the sea. However, that day was quite cloudy. The sun was blocked by the clouds before it can reach the sea.

2D1N Perlis Trip

I went to the other place to find some nice spot for my shooting. This place is just beside Masjid Al Hussain, there were two windmills at there. Though I have no fate with the sunset, but I was satisfied enough to have met with this windmill.

2D1N Perlis Trip

It has been four years...

2D1N Perlis Trip

And this is Masjid Al Hussain. It is really hard to miss out this mosque if you are in Kuala Perlis.

2D1N Perlis Trip

Another angle, another beauty.

2D1N Perlis Trip

We have our dinner at this Hai Thien Restaurant. Previously when I searched for the restaurant in Perlis on the internet, I have saw many bloggers recommended this restaurant. It seems that we cant afford to miss out this one when we were in Perlis.

2D1N Perlis Trip

When I searched on the internet, the Hai Thien Restaurant that I saw was not as new as this. I asked the boss what happen to the old one and he told me that they have to move their business to this location as the government wants to take back the old place. He told me that they have just moved to this new location on 16th May 2014.

2D1N Perlis Trip

We have ordered two fishes, a plate of vegetable and a plate of salad batenkor. This meal altogether has costed us RM68.80, which is quite cheap actually. The tastes of the food was not bad at all and the salad batenkor is recommended. Another thing to recommend is the satay sold by the Malay hawker inside the restaurant.

2D1N Perlis Trip

After having our dinner, we bid our farewell to Kuala Perlis and went back to Sanctuary Garden. Before we slept, we have watched an English movie, "Now You See Me". It was suppose to be an interesting movie, but due to the subtitles problem, we cant solve the riddle in the end.

And so, this is the end for the tired yet happy first day.
