Ranking 4th in among 389 restaurants in Georgetown by Trip Advisor, Noor & Dean's Café is a restaurant with the atmosphere depicting history of yesterday Penang. Noor & Dean's Café is located at Noordin Street, which is called the 'Second Road' (Ji Tiao Loh) by the local Penangites. Besides having a comfortable environment, the staffs are all very nice and cordial. While serving their customers with the tasteful menu ranging from local to western, Noor & Dean's Café (Noordin Street House) also provides accommodations.
This has been the third Hangout with Bloggers organised by Tour Directions that I have participated in. When I reached Noor & Dean's Café, I have seen many bloggers were already inside the cafe. It seems like I am the last one to arrive. Soon after I sat down, the staff began to introduce us the cafe. The staffs here are all very nice, they always put a smile on their face. After the short briefing, we went to the other side to take the photo of the foods.
Noor and Dean's Platter - RM28
A variety of local deep fried food with the sweet and spicy sambal and chili sauce is definitely one of the favourites of Malaysians. The deep fried foods include spring rolls, bread pakora, cucur udang, and chicken wings.
Cucur Udang - RM10
Cucur udang, one of my favourites local food. The prawn fritters are served with peanut sauce (satay sauce).
Tuna Mayo Panini - RM16
I like the vegetable. It was covered with some sweet sauce. As for the fries, it was a little bit too salty for me.
Gado-Gado - RM18
Gado-gado is like Penang's Pasembur. Normally, hawker will mix the sauce together with the ingredients but at here it was separated. The sauce at the middle of Gado-gado is the satay sauce (a little bit spicy) and the ingredients are local vegetables, prawn fritters and boiled eggs.
Grilled Chicken Arrosto (Chef Recommended) - RM22
Grilled seasoned chicken and rosemary sauce served with vegetables and potato of the day.
Batter Mix Garupa Fish & Chips - RM26
Deep fried garupa fish with dip devil served with mix salad and chips.
Shish Kebab & Pasta (Chef Recommended) - RM26
Tandoori chicken and grilled veggie skewer with Spaghetti Olio. I like the tandoori chicken and the grilled vegetables. The chicken was soft and the veggie was sweet. Adding the cheese powder on top of the tandoori chicken and the grilled veggie will make it tastes even nicer! As for the spaghetti, it was a bit oily for me.
Claypot Nasi Lemak with Ayam Rendang (Chef Recommended) - RM18
Spiced rice with coconut milk and traditional Malay dry chicken rendang, ikan bilis sambal and nasi lemak condiments.
Nasi Goreng Jalan Dua - RM18
Fried rice with egg, prawns, chicken satay, sambal and keropok.
Oyster Char Koay Teow - RM16
Stir-fry flat noodle in spicy sauce with oyster. For me, the Char Koay Teow here is lacking of taste, but the prawns is definitely a real big one!
Joo Hoo Char - RM10
Stir-fry shredded vegetables with dry cuttlefish.
Chicken Curry Kapitan - RM16
Chicken in spiced gravy with coconut milk.
Lamb Varuval - RM18
Southern Indian style spiced dry mutton.
Cool Mint & Lime Fitz - RM12
Fresh muddled lime and mint over crushed ice topped with soda. Personal think that it was too sour.
Teoh's Punch - RM12
Apple juice, pineapple juice, cranberry and orange topped with soda.
Noor Meets Dean's - RM12
Cranberry juice, pineapple, orange, lemon juice, ginger ale and grenadine.
Mezzo Mezzo - RM9 (hot) | RM11 (cold)
A good combination of espresso and chocolate.
Iced Vienna Coffee - RM14
Blended double shots of espresso in crushed iced topped with whipped cream. For me, the taste is still not saturated enough.
Milano Mocha - RM14
Divine mocha sensation, blended with finest espresso and chocolate.
Cafe Machiatto - RM8 (hot) | RM10 (cold)
Raita - RM5
Indian style salad with yogurt.
Sago Gula Melaka - RM6
Served with gula melaka and coconut syrup. Like the sweetness taste of it.
Sizzling Almond Cake - RM12
Swiss almond cake with vanilla ice cream on sizzling plate. Upon serving, you can see the vanilla ice cream rapidly melts on the hot sizzling plate and surround the almond cake.
Banana Fritters with Vanilla Ice Cream - RM8
Deep fried pastry with sweet banana and vanilla ice cream, ever taste this kind of combination before?
Noor & Dean's Café has occupied the space of two shop houses. This is the left side and there is a ladder leading to the rooms at the upper floor. At the back of the ground floor, three more new rooms are currently under construction. There will be a indoor swimming pool too!
Coming to the upper floor, you can see a small round table and three chairs on the left. It will be quite hot at there in the afternoon as it is an open air area.
There is a small library on the upper floor. Some of the books here are the collections of the Noor & Dean's Café's bosses.
Currently, there are 5 rooms available at Noor & Dean's Café. One room is the family suite room (4-5 pax) and the other four are the normal room (1-2 pax). The family suite room costs RM450 per night and the normal room costs RM350, both with breakfast provided.
There is a sky garden at the back of the upper floor.
1st Avenue can be seen from here. It is a good idea to have a candle light dinner with your loved one at here. Definitely, it will be a romantic night!
