Relau Metropolitan Park

Taman Awam Metropolitan Relau

In Pennag, when someone mention about a park, one will usually think of the youth park that is located near the botanical garden. In Relau, there is a similar park and it is called Relau Metropolitan Park. I am not sure whether this park is commonly known or not as I have never heard of anyone mentioning about it before. I get to know this park thanks to a local friend who had brought me there long ago.

Relau ia at about 4km from my house (Lip Sin Garden). Yesterday, having nothing to do at home, I walked alone to this metropolitan park. Though it was quite a short distance, but I have used more than an hour to reach there as some of the paths to Relau are slopes. I walked slower on the slopes and it was really energy consuming.

I went to Relau by passing through Lebuh Bukit Jambul. On the way, I saw luxury houses one after another. Some of the houses are still in the building process while some were abandoned. I saw some kindergartens too. I wonder how much is the pay for being a teacher in these high class kindergartens?

Both sides of the road were surrounded by forest as I walked further, and this means that I was pretty near to Relau already.

While passing through the forest, I saw a lake on it's left side. I have passing through here many times with car but I have never noticed this lake before. Walking along the road, I eventually came to a dead end and I have to turn left to reach Tingkat Bukit Jambul. The small road in the photo is the path towards the lake, it is located just not far after I turned left from the dead end.

There are condominiums surrounding the lake. There are actually paths for the residents to go to the lake from their residence places.

I saw catfish in this lake.

The residence area here is called Bukit Jambul Indah.

There is a cement walking path around the lake. Well, I can consider coming here for my P2B marathon training..hehe..

I took some photos at the lake and then continued my journey to the metropolitan park. Coming out from the lake and I came to this road, Tingkat Bukit Jambul. Walking down towards the end of this road and I came to a traffic light. To the left is the roads lead to Bayan Lepas and Sungai Ara. To the right, the roads lead to Balik Pulau and Air Hitam.

I turned left after the traffic light and came to a stair. A stair? Yes, a stair! The stair is located just before reaching this bicycle signboard.

Tada! This is the stair! Me and my friends discovered this stair during our last visit. We can reach the metropolitan park directly by passing through here. It really saved me a lot of time as I don't have to walked along the main road to get to the park.

I saw this Datuk Gong (deity) after taking a few steps down the stair.

The view here is quite nice. At the bottom there are two pavilions for resting and a river for playing.

There is a Chinese temple half way down the stair.

Actually, I was really scared when I was passing through here. I was alone and I saw the articles sticking on the wall of the Chinese temple saying that there were people dying here. So I prayed all the way to reduce my stress.

Passing through the small hill and I came to this place. This building used to be the mansion of Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee and rumors are saying that it is haunted.

After passing through the haunted mansion, finally I reached Relau Metropolitan Park!

At the middle of this yellow building is the entrance to the park (actually there are many entrances, just that this one looks more formal). The most left part is the toilet, follow by the office and the administration corner.

And the most right part is a cafeteria. When I went there yesterday, the cafeteria was under renovation and they were closed for business.

Nearby the cafeteria there are some marble tables with the chess board being carved on them. It is definitely a nice place for the chess love to gather.

Passing through the entrance and I came to a big empty field. During my last visit with my friend, we saw some aunties and uncles were having their Tachi lesson here.

This pathway is looking nice. Well, it is not a bad idea to do some portrait shooting at here..hehe..

Sport facilities.

There is a swimming pool inside the park. Though it is incomparable with the one in the youth park, but still it is better than no at all.

Zig-zag

The zig-zag bridge.

I personally dislike the jogging track in this park as there are places where the track is made of stairs (I like a smooth track).

Basically, you can walk through every part of this park if you follow the jogging track all the way.

There are sport facilities at the other part of the park too.

Actually you can find these sport facilities at most of the places in the park.

This is the upper part of the park, the entrance is at the opposite of the zig-zag bridge. Well, the upper part feels more like a botanical garden for me as it was planted with various type of trees including lime, durian, guava, start fruit and jackfruit.

These trees were planted in the way that one circle is for one type of fruit. Though the type of fruits are the same, yet they are differed in species.

The pavilions at here are hang with articles regarding the plants.

There is a tower at the upper part. I was tired already so I didn't climb the tower.

This is the pathway leading to the inner most part of the upper part. I was quite scared when I was walking on this path as I was alone.

This is the inner most part of the park. It is not planted with fruit trees but is planted with herbs. Actually there is still path available to walk further but I was really scared at that moment so I decided to turn back.

If youth park is too far for you, you can consider come to this metropolitan park. This park was a nice venue to have portrait shooting, it is really natural! For USM students, lets explore this place at least once before you graduated.
The opening hours of Relau Metropolitan Park is daily 7am to 7pm.

Note : Relau Metropolitan Park is prohibited from bringing along your dogs.
