Recently, alcohol and me has became quite a good friend. I have drank one bottle and two tins of Asahi beer during Superdry The Event and
a week after that I was having a Somersby Cider and a small glass of
Absolute Vodka while attending the food review invited by G Hotel at
Tree Bar. As ever, alcoholic drinks has not been my preference but
within this one month, I have perhaps drank up my one whole year quota.
What's more, I think I have started to actually like the taste of
alcohol, which before this I strongly dislike it! Oh no!
Tree Bar gets it's name from the big old tree it is
nestled under. This old tree is 80 over years old and G Hotel was
planning on cutting it down at first. However, with the big tree gone,
the atmosphere around it will be ruined. Hence, G Hotel came out with
this idea by building a bar around it. This is definitely 'killing two
birds with one stone' where guests get to enjoy themselves in this cosy
bar while they get to save the environment.
The old tree has a beautiful name, 'rain tree' as it's
leaves fold during the rainy weather. It is also known as "five o'clock"
tree ("Pukul Lima" in Bahasa Malaysia) by the locals as it's leaves fold
in the evening too. The old tree is surrounded by a round bar top seating
whereby customers can have their meals at there. This is gonna be a nice
spot for nature-lover.
Tree Bar is installed with wooden dining tables and chairs. There are two sofas being set up at the corner as well. This stylish wooden bar is an open-air bar with a shaded section. That night was a rainy night for us so we were hiding under the roof. I was really enjoying myself throughout the night with the blowing cold wind and the nice chit-chat with other bloggers. The ambiance was totally relaxing!
We were greeted warmly by G Hotel's marketing
communication manager, Ms Crhistina Tan, her assistant Ray CK and some
other guests. According to Ms Christina Tan, Tree Bar was always a full house
during the weekend.
The night was filled with the generous treat by Ms Christina. She has ordered almost every foods on the Tree Bar menu and what's more she let each of us ordered the food we like after we have tried them out. While waiting for the food to be served, Tree Bar has prepared two dishes of bites for us. The green one is the Wasabi green peas. Somersby Cider【RM21】
It is a bar after all, so it wouldn't be right if I ordered a soft drink..haha.. I have ordered a bottle of Somersby Cider. I have always seen my housemate brought it home so I would like to try out how it actually tastes.

Somersby Cider tastes just like the apple juice, but far more nicer. It feels so nice while having it in cold weather, not to mention in a bar. I was totally enjoying it!
Battered Fried Fish【RM19】
The battered fried fish is served with wasabi aoili sauce with faint wasabi taste. The chef cooked the dish with Tilapia. The fish texture was soft and smooth and the skin was pretty crispy. For those who like sour taste, you can squeeze the lemon provided on top of the fish fillet.
Deep-Fried Calamari【RM19】
To make it short, it is an al dente buttermilk breaded crispy golden brown calamari rings served with chili lime dressing, which is one of my favourite sauces!
Smoked Salmon Voluvents【RM28】
This smoked salmon stuffed voluvents with horseradish cream, capers and dill is definitely one of my favourite dishes. The salmon was thick and the crust was crispy yet soft within. The flowers that served as the decorations were actually edible. They flew all the way from Australia and they taste like mint.
Chicken Pancakes【RM14】
Chives and chicken pancakes served with Thai chili sauce. Personally think that it would be nicer if the filling has a larger portion.
Kueh Pie Tee【RM16】
Pie Tee is one of the popular Peranakan dishes. The Kueh Pie Tee at Tree Bar is filled with Thai beef salad with spicy lime dressing. Due to it's tiny size, I managed to finish it in one bite. XD
Triple Mini【RM33】
Having trouble choosing either hicken, beef or lamb? No worry, the Triple Mini is here to solve your problem. Basically, Triple Mini is three mini burgers each with different meats (chicken, beef and lamb) served with fries. I was having a chicken mini burger on that night. However, due to the long photo shooting time, the burger eventually turns cold so I didn't managed to taste it's original taste while it was still hot.

Guacamole & Tortilla Chips【RM14】
Tortilla chips has always been my favourite snack. Mixing the chips with the guacamole and greens was just the perfect combination. After we have finished tasting the food, me and John has ordered another plate of tortilla chips. XD

Grilled Otak-Otak【RM14】
Otak-otak is a grilled fish cake made of ground fish meat mixed with tapioca starch and spices. It is a a popular food in the southern Malaysia town of Muar in Johor. The Tree Bar's grilled otak-otak is spicy.
Spicy Squids【RM19】
Another squids dish offered by Tree Bar. The quids is stir fried with spicy salted egg and is served with chili padi and curry leaf.
Gyoza【RM14】
Dumplings stuffed with chicken and served with ginger vinegar sauce.
Surf N' Turf Quesadilla【RM32】
It may looks normal at the outside but in the inside is definitely rich with lots of luxury ingredients. It is stuffed with grilled beef steak, lobster, mozzarella cheese, tomato and beef bacon lardons with garlic chive aioli.
Mezze【RM19】
Pita bread served with hummus and babaghanoush. At first, when I looked at the thick pita bread, I though it will be quite hard to swallow. Yet, it was surprisingly soft! Adding in the ingredients inside the pita bread gives a very good mouthfeel.
Sensation【RM23】
Let's have a guess first. What do you think it is? At first, I thought that it was a vanilla ice-cream, but not until I have the fist bite. When I put it in mouth, the mouthfeel just doesn't feel right. Then I was told that this was actually the mozzarella cheese. What a surprise! One thing special about this mozzarella cheese is that it was made from the buffalo milk all the way from Campania, Italy. As for the taste, it was a bit dull for me.
Caprese【RM24】
Sensation and Caprese are both foods from the Mozzarella Bar, so the main ingredient would be the mozzarella cheese. Caprese and Sensation taste more or less the same, but Caprese has more variety of greens.
Absolut Tower【RM99++】
Ms Christina Tan has ordered two big Absolut Tower for us. This one is the 'Sex On The Beach' and the other one is 'Light'. This is my first time tasting 'Sex On The Beach' and wow! That was really nice! The alcohol taste was faint while the orange and lime taste were strong. Other than these two Absolut Tower, there are three other Ansolut Tower, namely 'Blush', 'Pandan-roska' and 'Ginger-licious'.
Currently, Tree Bar has the Happy Hours promotion for selected beers.

Other than alcoholic drinks and delicious foods, Tree Bar has a skewer station as well. The skewer station is open daily from 6.30 PM - 8.30 PM.
Customers get to customize their own skewer (5 sticks) and get to choose the sauces they want from the five sauces provided. The available skewers are squid, lamb, beef, chicken, prawn and sausages.
After choosing the desire skewers, the chef will grill them on the spot and the skewers will be served shortly.
Tada! The complete set of the skewers. Currently, Tree Bar has a special promotion, such that when customer purchase an Absolut Tower, they get to enjoy a free tasting set of Skewers + Sauces wchich consists of 5 sticks of skewers with variety of sauces.
Our night doesn't end with just the food review. We stayed at the Tree Bar and have some really nice chat with other bloggers. It was my first meeting with Yen from Miss G.L.U.T.T.O.N.
